2018 was a whirlwind year and one that I’m very proud of. It’s fun to look back on and share with you all. This year SSW launched 2 new user groups, hit our highest utilisation rates for client bookings, and ran dozens of sold-out training courses around Australia.
On a more personal level, I was lucky enough to be renewed as a Microsoft MVP for more than the 15th time, presented at a bunch of conferences, both in Australia and abroad, and spent several months living and working in Hangzhou, China with my little one, Ruby. Then, the whole family joined me at the end of the year in December.
There’s a new coffee shop chain in China, called Luckin Coffee, and it’s been fascinating to watch their rise in the local market. I know from my own observations that the Chinese in the big cities love their coffee. I’m aware the current stats on coffee consumption per nation says that the average person in China drinks only 3 coffees per year. However, that is changing *rapidly*.

September has come and gone and NDC Sydney is over. SSW was a large part of this great conference, which is personally my favourite event of the year.
Of course, I love going to NDC Oslo, but there’s nothing like having the Norwegians come to your home town. This was the 3rd annual Sydney event and it was awesome. The conference is a 5-day event (September 18-21), composed of 2 days of workshops and 3 days of presentations.
